Let God Arise! Prayer Guide - Spiritual Warfare Series, #8: “Get real. Can the inner cities of the world be won in our generation?” What a question! Certainly, the cities of the world are in peril. From economic upheaval, overpopulation and shortage of resources, rampant violence, overcrowding and congestion, to political corruption, mind-numbing diversity, and social anxiety, most major cities of the world are in crisis. With few exceptions, the mega-cities of the world deal every day with difficulties, challenges, and issues that make even world’s best experts and most ingenious solutions ineffective. Is there any wonder why the churches in these cities can easily fall prey to the same kind of cancerous negativism and unbelief, living with a siege mentality overwhelmed by the sheer size and dimensions of the world’s problems? |

Revelation 7 | The Two Multitudes | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Endure | |
Appearances are deceiving. At first glance, the people of God enduring persecution today seem to be dust under the boot of oppressive regimes, insane religious zealots, brutal dictatorships, and social ostracism. Their odds look slim to none for survival in many parts of the world. Yet, all of this is fully out of sync with what God declares and demonstrates in the Apocalypse. Those who endure to the end will be saved, vindicated, exalted, and glorified, even as their Lord endured the cross and was exalted by the Father. Do not be troubled nor dismayed by what is taking place, or what must occur in the future. God will vindicate his own, and they will bless his name as King for he is the Sovereign Lord of all. |

Revelation 6 | The Six Seals | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Worthy Is the Lamb | |
No one in the entire universe was found worthy to take the scroll from the One on the throne or to open its seals save the Lamb of God. This image of the Regnant Lamb, the divine Conqueror who glorifies God and consummates his Kingdom establishment on earth is the controlling image of redemption, and of our worship. Let us join with all the angels and saints in extolling the Lamb who is Lion, the Lamb who is of David |

Revelation 5 | The Sealed Book | Rev. Dr. Don L.
During this Season after Pentecost, let us thank the Holy Spirit for giving us knowledge of the One true conquering Lord, the Regnant Lamb who will finish what he started on the Cross, and establish for himself a people who will serve him forever. |

Revelation 4 | The Heavenly Throne | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Christ's Glory | |
No true disciple of Christ fails to long for the beatific vision that John was given to see the One seated on the throne, our Maker and God. In all of life, nothing is more valuable or important than seeing a true picture of God, and being transformed by that vision. This is not the end of a rationalized argument or a philosophical dialogue. What we need is a vision from God, a heavenly invitation made real by the Holy Spirit to gaze on him who is our life and our source. |

Let God Arise! Prayer Guide - Spiritual Warfare Series, #7: In spiritual warfare, sooner or later, we all face the same situation, the same awkward dilemma. Will I bow down, allowing evil to intimidate me, or will I choose out of loyalty to God to defy the power—and face the furnace? If there is one thing that is certain in the darkened realm still trashed by our ancient foe of hate and rage, it is this: the enemies of God wish to so intimidate his people that they will be prone to bow down to their idols, to submit to their threats, to compromise according to their worldly perspectives and ways. |

2Corinthians 13:11-14 | The Mystery of the Triune God | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Trinity Sunday | |
Through the revelation of Jesus Christ, we have come to understand the triune nature of the one true God, Yahweh the Almighty, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The love of God has elected us, the grace of Jesus Christ has delivered us, and the communion of the Holy Spirit now enriches us, filling our lives with hope and joy. As the Church of Jesus Christ, we celebrate the working of God on behalf of creation, and give all honor and praise to the one true God, the Lord alone who has brought eternal life to the human race. |

| | Pentecost | |
The Holy Spirit of God, third person of the Trinity and gift from the Father and Son, now indwells the Church by faith. On the day of Pentecost, he formed the Church of Christ, and since that day, indwells the Church as its true Helper, Teacher, and Comforter. As followers of Christ, let us affirm his presence in the assembly of God |

Isaiah 37:32-35 | Hezekiah and the Assyrians | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Prayer | |
Let God Arise! Prayer Guide - Spiritual Warfare Series, #6: Hezekiah’s confrontation with the powerful Assyrian army and their king
Sennacherib is dramatically narrated in Isaiah 36-37. This boastful king taunted the people of God in Jerusalem, and sought to lay siege laden with blasphemous boasts against the Lord. On hearing the taunts and boasts, king Hezekiah prayed humbly and openly for help to the Lord. Asking Isaiah to seek the LORD on behalf of Israel, the prophet delivered three words to king Hezekiah. First, do not be afraid, for the king of Assyria is doomed (37.5-20), next, do not fear for the boastful Sennacherib who has arisen will fall to ruin (37.21-29), and finally, neither the arrows or army will enter the holy city for I, the LORD, will deliver it for my name’s sake (37.30-35). For the sake of his covenant faithfulness and the glory of his name, the boastful enemies of God would be destroyed. With the death of 185,000 Assyrians, the humbled and defeated Sennacherib returned home only to be assassinated by his own sons. What a dramatic portrayal of God’s ability to provide the victory to his people who trust him, even though they are both weak and vulnerable! |

| | Jesus the Way | |
For us who believe, only one God exists, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, and only one mediator, our Lord, who gave himself as a ransom and conquered the powers for us. In him, we have found the way to our eternal homeland: he is the only way to the Father, the truth along the way, and the life at the end of the journey. During Eastertide, let us worship God through Christ Jesus, the carpenter finishing our new city |

Acts 2:42-47 | Fellowship, God-Style | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | Family of God | |
During this Eastertide, we celebrate the wonder of Jesus in our midst. In the same way the Lord demonstrated his presence in the midst of the first believing community, may God give us grace to gather, worship, and delight in the living Christ, who dwells in our midst through the Holy Spirit. We are the people of the Resurrection. We are the New Humanity in Christ. We are the People of God. |

Luke 24:13-35 | Recognized in the Breaking of the Bread | Rev. Dr. Don L. Davis
| | The Lord's Supper | |
The risen Jesus paused to teach his disciples from the written Word of God, the bread that feeds the soul, and was revealed to them in the breaking of the bread at table. Perhaps like no other place and during no other event is the person of Jesus more recognizable and his presence felt so powerfully as in the breaking of the bread during the Lord |
